Forever Families

“Just wanted to let you know we made it home safely. Murphy (Bridge) was great. Little bit of crying but slept most of the way. He was reserved at first but has settled in nicely after just a few hours. Here’s a few pics of him on the ride home.
We will send more as he grows.
Thank you so much. We absolutely love him.”
An update on Murphy:

Hi Karen,

I hope you are doing well.
Murphy turned 1 yesterday.  I wanted to share some pictures as well as let you know he is growing.
He is so affectionate, such a cuddler.  He just loves being around people and other dogs.  Very playful and definitely bull-headed at times.  He enjoys walking, playing tug, chase, fetch, really anything as long as he is with us – to say he is spoiled would be an understatement.  He either thinks he is a human or we are dogs, most likely the latter.  🙂 We are a pack for sure….
We took him to Cape May in September -I shared some pics from then as well.  He was a bit afraid of the ocean at first but would go in if we were in and were throwing things. It’s hard to really say if he loved it because he was on a leash and that makes it hard for him to truly enjoy it I think.
He has a vet appt for his annual checkup tomorrow so we will see what he weighs. I am guessing around 70 lbs.  He definitely is a bog boy, but not fat.  Actually he is very trim.  We are going to grow his hair out now for the winter, which does require daily brushing, but that is okay.  He really does not shed much at all, just a few wispy hairs here and there.  His hair is so soft, not wiry like some of the Portie hair.  It’s really the best of both worlds.
We still have people stop their cars just to say how beautiful he is and ask questions.  Everyone thinks he is a Bernadoodle and we explain he is not!  I actually have a colleague who I just shared your website with because I think she may want to get one of your BWD pups.  She has 2 Porties.
Here are some pics.  Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Lori
“Ben was able to get this little bundle of joy to us today.  She is so incredible you sweet.  We heard from Ben they delivered another dog locally.  How fun for her to have a sibling nearby.
Thanks so much for all your help in getting her to us.  We are so in love with her. “
“Kerplunk is such a love! We’re so happy to have her as part of our family. She’s settled right in with the other dogs and loves her humans. Thank you for this sweetie, we adore her!”
Kerplunk, Bernese Water Dog, 8 weeks old
Kerplunk 8 weeks old
Kerplunk at 4 1/2 months

Kerplunk just turned 1 year old and what a year it has been! She’s an amazing dog. Smart, funny, super sweet. She’s the biggest mush that loves everyone.

“Our boy just had his vet visit at 14 weeks. He’s doing great and can’t wait to play with his new next door friends – Tucker and Pawford. He’s a solid 28 lbs. and seems to be growing by the hour.”

“Spencer! 4 1/2 months! Our Bernese Water Dog loves the lake and can’t wait to go paddle boarding, kayaking, boating and swimming. We love him so much!!!!!”
“Here are some pictures of Bodhi, one of your Bernese Water Pups, who is about 5 months old now. This guy is a lean 43 lbs. He is totally content doing whatever, as long as he is around the family. He is already out of the crate at night. He is very smart and has learned several commands very well. My son thought Bodhi had something in his mouth that should not have been there, so he told him to “drop it” and out came a dog treat I had just given him. Bodhi even waited for permission to pick it back up! Couldn’t ask for a better addition to the family!”

About the Breed

We have worked and striven for years on our new registered designer breed and it’s been worth the wait!  You will love the webbed feet just like our PWD all have. All our parents have had the Embark DNA testing done and have a clean bill of health from our local veterinarians.
Many people love bigger dogs.  The Bernese Mountain Dogs bred to Standard Poodles have worked out very well, being more active, less shedding, longer life spans.
We figured: Why not a more in-line Designer combination?  What could be better than a Bernese with a wavy PWD?  You don’t have that curly sheepdog appearance.  The PWD puppies look like Bernese  puppies with the same facial features vs. a poodle with a longer skinny muzzle. They will be much smarter, more active and agile, far less shedding, longer life spans with far less health issues.  Like the PWD / Bernese, they will be a far more loving combination and much more willing to please than a doodle and far less hyper.  A Loving Loyal combination, the Designer Breeding association said will be a fantastic all-round winner.

Character:

Very intelligent, loving and wanting to please.  Loyal, calm companions to the entire family.  Agile and highly intelligent mixed with funny & mischievous with a striking good-looking appearance.

Temperament:

Super Alert, tolerant, sweet & gentle and extremely fun loving. Not as shy as a BMD.  More nosy and smarter in nature like the PWD.  Love hiking, swimming, boating and in general just being with you and being your loyal companion.  Whatever you want to do, they want to do with you.

Far less shedding.  Brush when needed.  A Puppy/Retriever  cut would be preferable for hot summer season especially for active water activities since they are far more water loving than even the Bernedoodles. Far healthier than a Bernese with a longer life span.

Coat:

Beautiful shiny coat with far less shedding than a Bernese Mountain  Dog.

Training :

Like most breeds they benefit from early socialization and obedience training and look forward to pleasing you.  Very smart, nosy and love just being with you.

Activity :

A little more laid back than the Portuguese Water Dogs. Webbed feet for faster swimming.  Love to be active indoors learning new tricks.   Active outdoors in order to excel in obedience and  agility.  Excellent little travelers.
